Closeboard fencing is strong because the boards are individually fixed rather than held together as a single rigid panel, which means wind passes through the structure rather than against it as a single flat surface. What Is Panel Fencing?

Panel fencing uses pre-made units, typically in 6ft widths, that slot or clip between posts. The most common type in Surrey gardens is the waney lap panel, made from overlapping horizontal timber slats. Closeboard panels are also available pre-made, though they differ from site-built closeboard and should not be confused with it.
